In the wake of the pandemic, Deep Ellum businesses have brought creative and collaborative seating and public space to the streets! Utilizing local artists, creatives, and their own ingenuity, parklets, pop-ups, and public seating can now be enjoyed in new spaces throughout the neighborhood!
When indoor seating was restricted and uncomfortable in small spaces, businesses across the city were forced to get creative to keep their businesses alive and their workers employed. Enter parklets and pop-up seating! With some quick thinking, a few trips to the hardware store, and an assist from the city permitting office, bars and restaurants could create their own extended outdoor patio space.
Throughout a quick walk around Deep Ellum, you can find plenty of expanded outdoor options at local spots like Maracas, Booty’s Street Food, Amor Y Queso, Tiki Loco, Le Bon Temps, Deep Ellum Distillery, and Revolver Taco Lounge all offer parklet seating to enjoy a bite and a drink on.
Some of these parklets have evolved into permanent additions to these businesses and some are only temporary, but all have the signature mark of Deep Ellum’s grit, creativity, and undying entrepreneurial spirit.
